Barcelona are reportedly closing in on one of the biggest transfer moves of the summer after reaching an agreement to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
According to multiple reports, the England winger is expected to undergo a medical in Spain after Barcelona moved ahead of Bayern Munich in the race for his signature. The deal could be worth around £70 million and would instantly become one of the most talked-about Premier League exits of the year.
Bayern Munich had reportedly already discussed personal terms with Gordon earlier in the window, but Barcelona suddenly accelerated negotiations and pushed to finalize the move quickly.
Liverpool were also linked with the winger, adding even more chaos to the transfer battle.
Gordon scored 17 goals for Newcastle this season and became one of the Premier League’s most explosive attacking players. Barcelona reportedly see him as a major long-term piece under Hansi Flick.
Fans online are already debating whether Barcelona overpaid, while Newcastle supporters fear the club could lose even more stars this summer.
One thing is certain: this transfer window just exploded.
